On God

Note: As late as January 2008 these are not the views currently held by the author. This article is thus obsolete but retained for the records.

The idea of god is a touchy subject, and it is foolhardy to claim one knows more about it than anyone else, so my goal here is to outline MY OWN beliefs and experiences on the subject. I in no way claim this is correct or that anyone should believe this. It is purely to share my views and let people willingly read them if they so choose. No Image Available
To begin, I don't think my own beliefs can be categorized with anyone else's, as labeling them to be something will stick on the other assumptions about that something to the original belief. The following will be my own (rather unfortified, ever-changing) beliefs. I say this now so I don't have to begin each sentence with "I believe" to make the PC folks happy.
There are many deities, who may take sides with people, who may influence the environment, who may consider some people good and some people bad, and behave to reflect that. Deities can be very powerful, causing rain, shine, sickness and health. In the modern days they don't seem to be as involved and the exact reason for such is unknown. Some people will believe that the ability to do the things these deities can do makes them gods, but I disagree.
The god I believe in is extremely neutral and cannot be relied upon to get you out of a mess just because you're buddies with him (Gender likely non-existent, but will use 'him' for simplicity rather than him/her/it all the time). He doesn't judge you and the possibility exists there isn't the slightest care to be observing every single person on earth to watch them pee, poo, eat, and just live their lives. I also do not believe god thinks like a human, and is not motivated in the same way to do things. Claiming we are completely incapable of understanding god is exaggerating, but circumstances do make this the case for most people, myself included.
A nice thing about this god is that he isn't demanding of worship or killing things as a "sacrifice". He isn't a control freak and doesn't need subservience to feel good. Though it is encouraged to at least be respectful, as you would with any other individual. Communication is possible, though it is not achieved through thought or word. It has been described as tapping into your heart (not literally) and using your sincere feelings to communicate. The results of which, for me, have mainly been in pointing out something I missed when I had problems. Could be described as meditating on a problem to find the solution. I find that he won't do things for you, and won't provide anything that isn't already there, which, nicely enough, happens to be enough.
As for how, or in what form, god exists, I haven't the foggiest idea. One possibility is that god is the consciousness of the universe itself, which we are a part of and made of. Many ideas exist for the reason behind our existence, and I can safely say I do not know that reason.

That about sums it up. Anything else is just rambling and not really worth discussing. Thank you for taking a read.
